Problem: The Digital Panel Says “See Retailer for Assistance,” “Please Wait,” or “Insert Key Counter.”
Cause: The remote counter is off.
Solution:
- Double check that the remote counter (the black box with a red switch, usually near the register) is in the “on” position. If that doesn’t work, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: The Digital Panel is Reporting Code 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 or 10-4
Cause: The copier is having a problem with the feed units.
Solution:
- The digital panel usually shows you where the jam is located. Clear the jam as indicated on the digital panel.
- If you can’t find the jam, turn the copier off for about 10 seconds and turn if back on. If that doesn’t clear the jam message, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: The Digital Panel is Reporting Code 34-1, 34-2, 35-1, 35-2 or 36-2
Cause: The copier is having a problem with the fusing unit.
Solution:
- This is occasionally a false alarm. Try turning the copier off for about 10 seconds and turning it back on. If the code doesn’t clear, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: Copies are Suddenly Blurry
Cause: The lens may not be resetting to the correct position.
Solution:
- Try turning the copier off for about 10 seconds and turning it back on. If that doesn’t work, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: Copies Suddenly Have a Black Strip Running Down the Page
Cause: The paper may not be making solid contact with the transfer corona.
Solution:
- Open the front panel of the copier.
You will see three green levers/knobs.
- Flip lever 1 (in the middle) all the way to the left.
- Now firmly flip lever 1 all the way to the right. This will insure that the paper path is in the correct position. If that doesn’t work, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: Copies are Coming out Blank, Half Blank or Almost Blank
Cause: The paper may not be making solid contact with the transfer corona.
Solution:
Open the front panel of the copier.

Problem: The Copies are Light, but the Copier is Not Asking for Toner
Cause: The machine needs service.
Solution:
WARNING: The copier will indicate that it needs toner when the toner needs to be replaced. Never “top off” the toner or load it unless the copier indicates that it needs toner.
- Call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: The Copier has No Power
Solution:
- Make sure the copier is on and plugged in.
- If that doesn’t work, make sure the copier is plugged into the power strip and that the power strip is plugged in and turned on. Most copiers are plugged into a power strip located in the supply cabinet.
If copier still doesn't have power, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: Unable to Select One of the Paper Sizes
Cause: “8.5 x 11R” or “8.5 x 14” is no longer visible on the paper selection screen.
Solution:
- Pull out the cassette tray that is not displaying.
- Check to make sure that there is not a paper jam, or that there is loose paper behind the stack of paper. If there is a jam, remove it. If there is loose paper behind the paper stack, remove it.
- If there is no loose paper or a paper jam, try turning the copier off for about 10 seconds and turning it back on. If that doesn’t work, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Problem: Copier says “Add Paper”, but there’s Plenty of Paper in the Cassette
Solution:
- Pull out the affected cassette tray.
- Check to make sure that there is not a paper jam, or that there is loose paper behind the stack of paper. If there is a jam, remove it. If there is loose paper behind the paper stack, remove it.
- If there is no loose paper or a paper jam, try turning the copier off for about 10 seconds and turning it back on. If that doesn’t work, please call 1-800-877-2679 for service.
Display Message: Please See Retailer for Assistance
Recommended Action:
- Check the on/off switch on the remote counter to make sure it is on.
Display Message: Please Insert Key Counter

- Check the on/off switch on the remote counter to make sure it is on.
Display Message: Power Saving Mode, Press Key to Cancel
Recommended Action:
- The copier goes into a power saving mode if it has not been used in four hours. Press any key on the control panel. The machine will warm up and be ready for use.
Display Message: Please Close Top Left Side Cover
Recommended Action:
- The top left side cover is the panel on the left side of the machine to which the exit tray is attached. Open the panel by lifting up on the handle over the exit tray (it says “Press Here”).
- Check inside for loose paper or anything that might be preventing the panel from closing properly.
- Make sure the panel is closed tight.
Display Message: Please Close Top Right Side Cover
Recommended Action:
- The top right side cover is on the right side of the machine under the bypass try and opens like a small door. Open the door and check inside for loose paper or anything that might be preventing the door from closing properly.
- Make sure the door is closed tight.
Display Message: Please Call for Service (with a Report Code such as 45-02, 10-01, etc.)
NOTE: This message is usually accompanied by a picture of a man with an “unhappy” face.
Recommended Action:

Display Message: Call for PM
NOTE: This is a reminder message that the copy machine is due for Preventative Maintenance (PM). The machine will probably still be working.
Recommended Action:
- Call 1-800-877-2679 to schedule a Preventative Maintenance service call.
Display Message: KRDS System Error (with a Report Code 01, 02 or 03)
NOTE: This machine is part of the Konica Remote Diagnostic System and it has a modem connected to it. It can automatically create a service call for the machine if any trouble is detected. The above error message indicates there is a problem with the modem/reporting system – the problem is not with the copier itself.
Recommended Action:
- Turn the machine off, then unplug the cord for the power strip from its outlet for about thirty seconds.
- Plug it in again and turn the machine back on.
